SD CARD DVR CAMERA FORMAT ?
Newbie, I have no idea what I'm doing, BUT I'm having a great time! I purchased a 2gb dashboard dvr camera. Then purchased a sandisk micro 2gb card and adapter, Cannot get the camera to work and am wondering??? Is there anything I am failing to do with the sd card to get camera to record? I know other hardware plugged into XP displays an install box but this camera only displays a blue screen with "no file exists". Which is better than nothing however does the SD card need to be formatted? I have a vague notion of what formatting is. Put another way, if a blank SD is inserted into a camera, might it need formatting before the camera will record? Thank You, everyone.
The camera should auomatically format it anyway it needs.
SD comes in standard SD, SDHC, and SDXC, and they are not all universal. Make sure you are using the correct SD format for your camera.
Standard SD: 4 MB to 4 GB
SDHC: 4 GB to 32 GB
SDXC: 32+ GB to 2 TB
Not only are the memory sizes different, but the file systems are completely different and not all equipment can read the newer SDHC and SDXC formats. Check your documentation for the camera.

In the early days, video from multiple security cameras were recorded using time-lapse VCRs and multiplexers. Due to recent advancements in recording technology, digital video recorders (DVRs) have started replacing many VCRs and multiplexers. DVR security camera systems record video on a hard drive-based medium, eliminating the need for a videotape. These sophisticated systems have the ability to manage multiple cameras as well as record and playback video locally or through the Internet.
Before choosing a DVR, decide how many cameras you want to connect to it. The video recording rate, which is calculated in frames per second (fps), should also play a major role in your buying decision. Standalone DVR units are very efficient when used for home security. They allow you to monitor your security cameras while you watch TV. They also include an IR remote that lets you control the live video from your security camera. If you want to record and store this data, then get a stand-alone DVR model that includes a hard drive.
Security DVR systems provide detailed images and crystal clear video that do not degrade. They also allow you to record video for a longer period of time and let you pause the video without distorting the picture. To upgrade your surveillance system, a DVR from ApexCCTV is a great choice.
